Friends of Garfield Township Parks

The Friends of Garfield Township Parks was originally created to oversee the sucessful reconstruction of the historic railroad depot and development of a new State Trailhead along the Pere Marquette State Trial in Lake Station, MI.

During the Trailhead Project a 5-year Garfield park plan was created to serve as a guide to the township as its commitment to continue development of its parks and recreation throughout the township.

Today The Friends of Garfield Township Parks has continued the mission to raise money to continue the upgrade of all the public parks throughout the township.

In 2020 plans were finalized to upgrade Peterson Park on Crooked Lake. The Friends Group was able to provide almost 70% of the funding required to upgrade the park’s parking lot, add a picnic shelter structure, as well as adding several upgrades to the park providing a great location for off-lake families and visitors direct access to Crooked Lake.

We are always looking for volunteers and supporters to continue our mission.
